Hi everyone! I hope you are all well and having a fantastic day. Today’s post is going to be a little different – earlier on this year I shared with you my favourite book to movie adaptations, which went down really well (linked here; 1, 2, 3). Because of this, and because I love talking about movies, I thought I’d share some books that I think would be absolutely amazing on screen!
The first book I’ve got on this list is Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I absolutely love sci-fi, and I don’t think we have enough of them so far. We have great ones like Gravity, Interstellar and Doctor Who but I think Skyward would be amazing on screen. The flight training sequences and the final battles would just look amazing, and as it’s a YA book I think it would attract a younger audience to sci-fi which would be really refreshing. I would also just love to see Spensa being a badass on screen, is that too much to ask for?
The next book I have on my list is City of Brass by S. A. Chakraborty. I didn’t know this when writing this post but I know now that it has been picked up by Netflix which I am sooooo excited for! Guys, could you just imagine the cinematography, action sequences and soundtrack for this adaptation. She would look so expensive! It’s also incredibly diverse which we definitely need to see more of, especially from Netflix.
The next book I think would make a great adaptation is Beach Read by Emily Henry! While I do think this is a better book (because it’s a book about books, come on) I still think we need more rom-coms nowadays as they don’t seem to do it like the 90s ones do. I can just imagine January & Gus’s banter mixed with the more emotional moments would make a great movie!
Going for a more moody vibe now and say that Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo would make such a good movie. Picture watching this in the autumn, it’s foggy outside and you have a hot chocolate and snacks – doesn’t it sound perfect?! The vibe I get from Ninth House screams spooky autumn/winter and make this dark and moody enough and we could have a great franchise. Also, we need more characters like Alex Stern in movies, not just in books!
I’m going back to summer now and saying that I need an adaptation of The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren in my life like, yesterday. This would be so good as a movie! Reading this book I couldn’t help but be reminded of Just Go With It – the gorgeous setting of Hawaii but made a bit more of a romance than a comedy. Olive and Ethan’s relationship and story would be so much fun to see on screen, not to mention hilarious and adorable!
I’m going to make this a series on my blog, as there are just so many books that I’d love to see adapted. I may do some books that I wouldn’t like to see adapted too (as I do have a few!). Let me know if you agree with any of my choices, and if you have any suggestions for my next post! Also, let me know if you liked this different style of post as I get paranoid when I don’t post reviews or tags that you guys won’t be interested!
