TRICK OR TREAT BOOK TAG

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well and having an amazing day. Today, I’ll be doing the Trick or Treat book tag! I originally saw this tag over on Booked on a Feeling and knew I had to do it – I absolutely love Halloween and now it’s October I feel it’s pretty appropriate for me to start doing spooky tags now. The idea of this tag is to pick some of your reads and decide whether they’re a trick or a treat. I decided to randomise all the books I’ve read this year!

Gemina

TREAT! Although this book wasn’t my complete favourite I really liked the way the story developed into more of a conspiracy, and I loved the additional characters as well. Their chemistry was really great and I think they were a lot more developed than Kady and Ezra.

Lord of Shadows

TREAT TREAT TREAT! One of my favourite books this year for sure. If you know me then you know that The Dark Artifices is my favourite Shadowhunters series, and I lovedddd the character and relationship development we got in this book. Even though the ending ripped out my soul, but I’ll forgive it.

The Toll

TRICK! I gave this 4 stars at the time but just hear me out – the ending was so strange and felt really deflated. It came out of nowhere and it was just too long with somehow no build up. I loved the series at the beginning but it really declined in quality for me.

The Martian

TREAT! This book really surprised me! Granted, The Martian is one of my favourite movies of all time but I don’t read much sci-fi at all. I loved the level of humour in it and the audiobook narration was perfect. It was really similar to the movie in both plot and tone and I found myself really pleasantly surprised.

The Forbidden Wish

TRICK! I read this when I was in the mood for an Aladdin retelling and it just didn’t do it for me unfortunately. I liked the badass group of female assassins but that’s basically it. I didn’t think the characters and relationships were that fleshed out and I wouldn’t pick it up again.

Have you read any of these books and do you share the same opinions? Feel free to chat in the comments below!

Happy reading,
Lucy

  1. I haven’t read any of these! Some sound really interesting. Re-tellings of older & classic stories are always so hit or miss for me. I haven’t really found an amazing one yet I don’t think.

This seems like a fun tag! πŸ™‚
