Hi everyone! I hope you are all well and having a great day. Happy Halloween!! In honour of today being Halloween I’ve decided to do the Spooky Scary Book Tag which I found here!
1.) What goes bump in the night? Name a book that has legitimately scared you while reading it.
To be honest, I never really read horror so I hardly ever get scared in books? Although I do tend to get nervous when I literally have no idea what’s going to happen and I’m so worried for the characters. That happened a lot in A Conjuring of Light and Kingdom of Ash too.
2.) Jack O’ Lanterns and Classic Costumes: A book you always reach for during Halloween time.
I read Serpent and Dove this time last year, and I’ve also just finished my reread ready for when I read Blood and Honey! This is a Halloween staple for sure.
3.) Black Cats and Magic Mirrors: A book you love that is laced with superstition and/or magic.
A lot of books that I love have magical elements in so it’s really hard for me to choose a favourite. One book that I hardly ever mention but that I absolutely love is Sorcery of Thorns – it has a magical library!
4.) Witch’s Brew: Favorite witch character in any book/series.
Ooh this is such a hard question! I kind of want to say Lou and Coco in Serpent and Dove but I’ve already used that book for another question, soo…. let’s go with Manon from the Throne of Glass series! I love her so much.
5.) Ghouls and Ghosts: A book that still haunts you to this day (good or bad).
Honestly there’s this one scene from Salt to the Sea that I think about at least weekly that I can’t get out of my head. It’s an absolutely heartbreaking book, and the imagery and descriptions that Ruta Sepetys uses is so graphic and jarring I still remember it so vividly.
6.) Haunted Graveyard: You’re all alone in a haunted graveyard, you get ONE book to give you comfort, which is it?
Stardust! I know I know, is it a tag on this blog if Lucy doesn’t mention Stardust at least once. It’s my comfort book, okay? ❤
7.) The Undead: Favorite supernatural creatures to read about (i.e. vampires, zombies, werewolves, etc).
Probably vampires! The amount of vampire books I’ve read is probably embarrassing at this point but I don’t even care, I love it so much.
8.) In the dead of night: Pick a book with a black cover.
In honour of my love for vampires, let’s go with this stunning cover of The Beautiful! I loved this book!
I hope you all have a lovely Halloween and enjoy it no matter what you have planned! I’m going to watch a few scary movies and catch up on some reading I think. What will you be doing? Let’s chat in the comments!
